DHFF 2019: “The Cat With Hands” Will Grab You

Every day through October, the Department of Tangents brings you the Daily Horror Film Fest – one short horror film for every day of the month. It might be terrifying, it might be funny. It could be an homage classic monsters or something entirely new. Check back every morning for a new scare as we celebrate horror shorts!

A little cat-related horror, in honor of our new kitty, Jack. Meet Jack:

Jack, so far, just has regular kitty paws, not like the cat in this short, “The Cat With Hands,” written, directed, and animated by Robert Morgan. Our faces are all still intact here. We all still speak as we always did, of our own free will. There may be some bit marks on our shoes, and there may have been a casualty or two from the mantel, but we are much luckier than the humans in Morgan’s short.

Morgan is adept at unsettling images, as the title of this short indicates, which is part of why he won the New Director Award at the Soho Rushes Short Film Festival in 2001 when this first came out. You can find out more about him on his Web site. Good luck getting these nightmares out of your head.
