February is Women in Horror Month, and streaming film service Shudder has jumped on board with a playlist, called “A Woman’s Touch,” to celebrate. You can find the list on their Web site, but I’ve also listed them here. Want Argentinian werewolves? They’ve got it. Psychological drama written and directed by Julie Delpy? A short about a killer hairstylist? A meth lab version of Groundhog’s Day? All here.
They have also started streaming short films, which could be boon to indie filmmakers and help promote some of the better stuff that might get lost on the Internet. Izzy Lee, whose short Innsmouth I covered in October for the Daily Horror Film Fest, had a similar thought. “I think it’s great exposure and a fantastic way to promote the work of filmmakers who you may not ever get to see,” she says. A note for those unfamiliar with the service: I’ve been a subscriber since last year and enjoyed finding some gems I couldn’t find streaming on other services, or would have to pay per title to access. It streams cleanly through my Roku, and the interface feels much cleaner to me than when they were still in Beta.
