DHFF 2019: Key & Peele See A “Non-Scary Movie”

Every day through October, the Department of Tangents brings you the Daily Horror Film Fest – one short horror film for every day of the month. It might be terrifying, it might be funny. It could be an homage classic monsters or something entirely new. Check back every morning for a new scare as we celebrate horror shorts!

All right, I’ll admit it. I’m cheating with today’s entry. It’s not technically a horror short. It’s not an indie production, which I’m trying to favor with the DHFF. It’s a comedy sketch from Key & Peele. But it’s fun to see Jordan Peele dealing with the horror genre before he became a star horror filmmaker. It’s also fun to hear his character say, “I don’t even understand how that’s even in the horror genre, dog,” remembering how some said the same think about Get Out. And the poster in the beginning tipping a hat to the show’s first assistant director John O’Rourke on the movie poster for Oh, John O’.

And this is some of us after we see out favorite horror movies. I mean, not me. I’m never scared. That was stupid, right? That could never happen. Let me walk you to your car.
