Daily Horror Film Fest: Scarlet Says

We’re getting down to the last week of the second annual Daily Horror Film Fest, just eight more days of short horror films left. And since today is my birthday, today’s film has a birthday theme. It was harder to find a good birthday-related short than I had thought it would be, but I found the gorgeous Scarlet Says, directed by Marley Grenville and written by Alexei Slater.

It’s young Sadie’s birthday, and mom and dad always do something special for Sadie. Not so much for older sister Scarlet and little brother Jeremy. But Scarlet has a plan to make the day special for her and her little brother. Her parents will certainly remember the day, as well. Scarlet might not have the best intentions.

Scarlet Says is a mix of horror and fantasy – it charms with its lush imagery and playfulness with an undercurrent of menace. There is a foreboding vibrating in your bones, but what you’re watching is so beautiful, you can’t look away. I’m sure it’ll all work out. It’s just a bit of fun, isn’t it? Isn’t it?

A quick note – click the link below, and you’ll be taken to Vimeo to watch the film. Privacy settings don’t allow it to be played in an embedded player.
