In October, I spoke with director Brendan Rogers about Bubba the Redneck Werewolf, the film adaptation of the comic book series, for the Daily Horror Film Fest. Bubba is out today on DVD from And You Films, with some free posters for those who order early. As the title may suggest, the movie is cornball and campy with a heavy Evil Dead influence, and a wonderfully goofy theme song. The DVD includes a “making of” documentary, bloopers, deleted scenes, a look at the practical effects, and a music video.
Bubba DVD Trailer:
And You is in post-production with a new film, Gotta Kill ‘Em All, which I would expect will share Bubba‘s sense of gory fun. Here’s the plot description from Aléa Figueroa:
When a group of gamers trespass to play a Pokemon Go-esque phone game, they find themselves in mortal danger as the digital monsters they’re hunting come blazing to life. Augmented reality becomes a bloodbath in this horror adventure from the producers of Bubba the Redneck Werewolf. Gotta Kill ‘Em All stars Aléa Figueroa, Andy Gion, Betty Jeune, and Vincenzo Hinckley as a group of friends in mortal peril. Directed by Brendan Jackson Rogers (Bubba the Redneck Werewolf, Flashback) and written by Rogers and producer Will Phillips, the film features practical gore effects and a host of monstrous makeup.
