Amy Schumer had only been doing comedy for three and a half years when we spoke in 2007. She was coming off of the stint on Last Comic Standing that introduced her to a wider audience — one that she has built considerably since then — and coming to town with the resulting package tour with other comics from her season.
In this snippet of the interview, Schumer talks about getting her start in improv, and how stand-up allowed her to step more firmly into center stage. “I have a very big personality and if somebody else in the room has a personality like mine, it’s in my nature to back down and totally give them the spotlight,” she said then. “I don’t like competing for it.”
