Every day during October, the Department of Tangents presents a different short film for the Daily Horror Film Fest. It can be flat-out scary, funny horror, or maybe even a little cagey. Today’s entry is Pictures, written, directed, and edited by S.L. Allred of Jumping the Green Productions.

You’ve probably got pictures on your phone you don’t remember taking. You put them up on Instagram, bask in your responses, and forget them. But Morgan can’t forget the photos on her phone. Because she didn’t take them. And they show her things that haven’t happened yet. But they will. And soon.

It’s a simple and engaging premise, executed well. The film sets up a few of those classic horror movie moments when you want to yell at the screen, “What are you doing? You’re going to die! Stop that!” And it’s savvy enough to use your expectations against you. And a nice juicy gurgle’s always good.
