More horror! More comedy!
Things are looking up for horror fans on TV, especially horror with a sense of humor. Ash vs Evil Dead returns to Starz on October 2. The Walking Dead is back on AMC on October 23. Robert Kirkman’s Outcast got more intriguing a few episodes in on Cinemax, and Stranger Things was wonderful fun on Netflix. And now, on November 2, Stan Against Evil premieres on IFC.
The show’s creator, Dana Gould is a fantastically funny man and a huge horror geek. Regular listeners of his podcast, The Dana Gould Hour, know this well. He reported on his Facebook page on July 27 that filming had wrapped up and he was heading home to put the footage together. When I interviewed him for a Boston Globe piece on Ken Reid, we talked briefly about the show, which he described as Buffy the Vampire Slayer starring Archie Bunker. I’m in.
I reached out to Gould by e-mail Monday for a quick initial reaction to how his creation has come to life so far. “In all honestly, it looks much better than I imagined,” he wrote. “I always envision things the way I would direct them, and frankly, I’m a terrible director!”
I’ll be keeping tabs until the show through its premiere in November. Keep checking back for news!
